The Mustangs came out strong against the visiting Woodburn Bulldogs. They outshot the Bulldogs 10-2 in the first half. In the 15th minute, senior forward, Katelyn Howard got around the goalkeeper to tap in the first goal of the night, which was assisted by senior midfielder, Ellie Holmes. Just 4 minutes later, Holmes took a corner kick which found junior midfielder, MaKenna Presley, who headed the ball in for the second goal of the half giving the Mustangs a 2-0 lead. The scoring didn’t stop there. The third and final goal of the half came when senior defender, Noelani McGowan, sent up a long pass to Holmes who got it to Howard who once again found the back of the net for her second goal of the game and giving Holmes her 3rd assist in the half. The Mustangs went into halftime up 3-0.
In the second half, with about 20 minutes left to play sophomore midfielder, Irene Estrada, got tricky and used the back of her heal to flick the ball up over the Bulldog’s keeper for the 4th goal of the night, assisted by Presley. Up by 4 goals, the Mustangs had one final score to get when Holmes got her 4th assist of the game on a pass to Presley who got enough on the ball for it to spin passed Woodburn’s goalkeeper hitting the far post and going in the net for a final score of 5-0.
